Rear-Wheel Drive Power in the RWS
Audi has taken the all-wheel drive Audi R8 and turned it into a real-wheel drive machine with the RWS model. Actually, it's the first rear-wheel drive Audi in the lineup, and it kicks your adrenaline into high gear with its performance.
It comes with a 5.2L V10 engine that delivers 540 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. Plus, it's mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for smooth and quick shifting.
In addition, you get excellent steering feedback, and a super quick response time. In fact, it can go from 0-62 MPH in just 3.7 seconds.
Audi RWS Exterior & Interior Design
The RWS takes its design cues from the R8 LMS GT4, a pure racing car seen on tracks all around the world.
The RWS has a distinct matte black grille and gloss black wheels. The side blade is body-colored on the lower half, and a red stripe sets it apart from the standard Audi R8.
Plus, since this vehicle doesn't offer quattro® all-wheel drive, the front differential and driveshafts have been removed. Also, the hollow rear driveshafts have been replaced with solid ones. The result is an automobile that's 110 pounds lighter than the R8, which explains its nimbleness on the road.
Inside, you'll find leather seats with Alcantara® inserts along with an Alcantara® headliner. A carbon-fiber inlay on the center console is available, too, which can also be found on the instrument-panel surround and vent bezels.
Audi RWS Interior Features
The RWS also has many great features that'll help make your drives more enjoyable. One of them is Apple CarPlay® and Google™ Android Auto™. With this smartphone integration feature, you can access your audiobooks, send text messages, and more, without needing to touch your phone while driving. Plus, everything will be heard clearly through the available Bang & Olufsen® sound system.
Behind the steering wheel, you'll find a 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit, which is where your apps will appear, along with a navigation system. The maps will be shown clearly here, and a rotary knob doubles as a handwriting pad, letting you enter in your destination easily.
